First "real" Haircut

Nico had his first actual haircut this afternoon, he didn't exactly enjoy it so it's not finished but she got the worst of it trimmed up for him. He didn't lose his curls, I was so happy, cutting the curls is why I've put it off for so long.

Percy The Train has been found!!

This morning I went to get Nico up from his crib in the morning. As I was getting him dressed he noticed some of my hair had gone into my face. He smiled and brushed it back for me and said "there ya go Mommy" then went on to say "I uv u" He talks so fast sometimes you miss what he is actually saying, I was so happy to hear what he meant and his sweetness made my morning...

This afternoon he decided to veto his nap, he has NEVER done this before, in fact he normally falls asleep the moment you lay him in the crib. After an hour of talking and playing, I went in and got him out, he seems perfectly happy and not a bit tired so far, we will see how long it lasts :)

Also, something important in Nico's world: for everyone that knew that we tragically left Percy the train at church and couldn't find him, (or the right replacement). We are happy to say he reappeared back in the church nursery this week and was quickly reclaimed by Nico. He is happy to have him back! I take him out of the nursery for communion so we can go up as a family; he had his Percy Train firmly in his hands and didn't want to let him go when it was our time to go up to the alter. He was yelling, Percy oh no Percy!! Luckily he forgot once we were taking communion, that's a whole other story, he always tries to take the bread and wine away from the pastor; he doesn't like being left out :) As I eat the bread he looks at me and says, ummmm yum!

Hanging out with Mommy

Since Oz went golfing today, Nico and I had our day to spend together. We started out by going to our favorite place around here, the botanical gardens, he loved running around the Children's Garden and looking in the little peep hole at the Hobbit's House. After running around the gardens we stopped by a Smoothie place and each got a drink and headed home for naps, notice the plural since I napped too :)
Then we went out for dinner and came home and played with trains outside. It turned out to be a really nice day; just the two of us.

Happy Birthday Ashley!!

I can't believe Ash is already turning 20! Seems like she should still be in elementary school! Time goes by way too fast! Here's the latest picture of the family taken Christmas, sorry Oz that your head is hidden by Nico's crazy curly hair :)

Nicolas went to preschool yesterday and had a blast. The teacher said he loved to paint with watercolors and didn't want to stop when it was time to put everything away, he kept saying no more please over and over; at least he's polite with his pleases and thank you's :)

Ohhhh Gizmo!

Well, we were back at the vet yesterday for round 2 of Gizmo's saga. She somehow managed to pull out all of her internal and external stitches while I was away, with a cone on even! She had to go back to the vet and go in for surgery again to fix everything, she came out with a larger cone now so hopefully this will be the last vet trip for a long time, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Our vet bills are hard to look at, especially after this latest trip back, oh boy...

Snow Day!

So it really did snow here! We didn't believe the weather man but he was right this time, it's the first snow this year and it was gone by 11. We'll be in t shirts by the end of this week with the temps getting towards 70 but we sure started it cold this Sunday. Nico liked it at first, especially looking out the window while it fell but once we got outside he kept saying, eeeewwwww, yucky. Finally he got upset when he touched the snow with his hands and that was it, he wanted to go inside. Last year in Ohio he loved the snow, I guess he's a southern boy now :)
